Prep for N Cape ANC conference running smoothly
Upington Preparations were running smoothly in Upington for the ANC's
provincial elective conference due to start on Thursday afternoon. ANC president
Jacob Zuma is to address the conference later in the day.
Strict security measures were in place at the Upington Rugby Club fields at
the Eiland Resort.
Huge tents were erected on the rugby fields with the main tortoiseshaped
conference tent decorated with plants and in party colours. Many palm trees
along the long entrance path were also wrapped in party colours.
At the Upington Further Education and Training college, where the delegates
must register, there was a holiday atmosphere. Delegates were mostly standing in
the sun and waiting for their conference tags. Many of the delegates from the
five regions also reside at the FET college.
